About Group Workshops at Kairos Counseling & Family Therapy

Group Therapy Workshops are designed to help you understand yourself, your relationships, and your nervous system in a way that brings clarity, healing, and hope. Through Polyvagal Theory, Parts Work, and relational practices, we create a safe, supportive space to explore how your body, brain, and relationships are interconnected. In these Experiential Group Workshops, you'll gain practical tools to calm overwhelm, improve connection, and move toward lasting change -- both within yourself and with the people you love.

How Do Kairos Group Workshops Work?

At Kairos Counseling & Family Therapy, our Group Workshop sessions combine education, experiential exercises, and relational connection to create a powerful space for growth and health. These workshops are safe, supportive spaces where you can explore your story, practice regulation skills, and connect with others who truly "get it." Each group has a specific focus. This allows members to connect deeply on shared experiences.

  • Education & Understanding: Learn how your nervous system, emotions, and relationships work together using simple accessible concepts from Polyvagal Theory and Interpersonal Neurobiology.
  • Parts Work Exploration: Dsicover the different "parts" of yourself -- like the inner critic, protector, or playful self -- and how to bring them into harmony.
  • Experiential Practices: Go beyond talk therapy with mind-body techniques, guided imagery, sandtray work, and other interactive methods.
  • Relational Support: Heal through connection by sharing and listening in a group of people who are walking similar journeys.
  • Practical Tools: Leave each session with tangible skills for regulation, communication, and resilience you can apply right away.

What You Can Expect During Kairos Group Workshops:

  • Expert Facilitation: Our experienced therapists guide each session. They ensure safety and promote healthy interactions.
  • Warm Welcome & Safety Building: Establish group guidelines and a sense of safety. Learn and practice gentle grounding techniques to regulate before diving in.
  • Shared Exploration: Members share their stories and feelings. This builds empathy and connection.
  • Learning & Practice: You learn new coping skills. You practice communication techniques. This happens in a supportive environment.
  • Diverse Perspectives: You gain insights from others' experiences. This offers new ways to view your own challenges.
  • Confidentiality: Every group member commits to keeping shared information private. This builds trust.

Frequently asked questions

Don't let questions stop you from receiving the care you deserve!

Why should I consider joining a Group Workshop instead of just doing individual therapy?

While individual therapy offers personalized attention, our Dallas Group Workshops provide unique benefits like peer support, diverse perspectives, and real-time social skill practice. Many clients find combining both approaches most effective - individual sessions for deep personal work and groups for practical application and reduced feelings of isolation.

How do know if a Group Workshop is right for me?

Group Workshops are a great fit if you're feeling stuck in patterns, overwhelmed by emotions, or longing for stronger, healthier relationships. You don't need to have everything "figured out" before joining -- you just need a willingness to show up and explore in a supportive space. Whether you're a Parent navigating parenting challenges, a Teen exploring identity, or a Couple seeking connection, a Regulation & Resilience Group Workshop can help you gain insight, learn skills, and experience healing in community.

What if I feel nervous or unsure about sharing during a Group Workshop?

It's completely normal to feel hesitant -- many participants feel the same way at first. At Kairos Counseling & Family Therapy, safety is our top priority. It is our promise to you, you'll never be forced to share more than you're comfortable with. Honoring each person where they are at, we start each group with gentle practices to help you feel grounded and secure. As trust builds, most people find that simply listening to others' experiences is healing in itself, and over time many participants discover that sharing in a group brings relief validation, and connection they didn't know they were missing.

Can I switch from group therapy to individual therapy later if needed?

Absolutely. Many clients begin with a Group Workshop for peer support, later transitioning to individual sessions for deeper personal work. Our therapists at Kairos Counseling can seamlessly adjust your care plan based on your evolving needs—whether you require more privacy, targeted trauma processing (EMDR or ETT), or focused skill-building. Some clients even benefit from both formats simultaneously for comprehensive healing.
